Frank Rios was born in New Haven, CT and raised in Tampa, FL. He began his fitness journey with his brother, who was a Pro Bodybuilder when he was 6. He trained in bodybuilding and then in Powerlifting until 2005, when he switched his training to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Muay Thai Kickboxing for the next 9 years. He found CrossFit at a new city he moved to in Danbury, CT, when he tried CrossFit for the first time and then added it as a form of strength and conditioning to support his combat training. He was hooked and earned his CrossFit Level 1 certification the next year. He continued to train and compete over the next 4 years, until he earned his CrossFit Level 2 Certification and decided to open his own gym. Over the next ~8 years, he trained hundreds of athletes, leading his gym’s weightlifting team to set 9 USA Weightlifting state record for the Snatch, Clean & Jerk and Totals for Connecticut. His time in the military has moved him multiple times since, where he now resides in the Nashville area and one of the coaches at CrossFit East Nashville.

Frank has been judging Elite level CrossFit events over the last 10 years. This has just fueled his passion for proper technique, full range of motion and helping people move well for the rest of their lives. He loves coaching athletes to new personal records and increasing their confidence in general. When he is not coaching athletes the gym, he is hanging with his family doing something active or traveling with the military.
